Brendan Power with Bleu Rascals - Harmonica Man - Live Jam

Recorded during Brendan's clinic/concert at 70's Bistro in Philippines. Brendan Power needs no introduction as "THE HARMONICA MAN" - having watched a lot of his videos online. But boy, my first experience of his harmonica playing is totally flabbergasting - his tone, his phrasing, his sound - out of this world! I've heard and seen a lot of harmonica experts but none like Brendan. What a performance!

The Bleu Rascals is the hottest thing going in Philippine blues scene 2011. They are young - but closing one's eyes and just listening to the music - these boys are aged and mature in blues rock language - they have dynamics, groove and nuance that can only be seen and heard on seasoned and serious veterans. Wonderful is the fact that they were able to carry the tune, responding to Brendan's cues and changes - and Paul Marney, guitar boy wonder - was able to stand his ground - toe to toe - in a call and response section with Brendan - awesome jam! awesome set!

Thanks to Tom Colvin of Blues Network Asia for organizing this event.

Jazz Quartet (Saxophone, Upright Bass, Piano, Drums) Live Sessions Sound Weavers

We would like to share these videos featuring live in studio recording of the Vince Lahorra Quartet, a jazz quartet in the Philippines featuring a saxophone, upright acoustic bass, upright acoustic piano and acoustic drums. The music on these videos are 1-take recordings only, no overdubs!

This session came about as further studies of classic jazz recording techniques in quartet and trio settings. Another objective is to test our studios sonic capabilities and qualities in live recording situations where very dynamic voices/instruments are involved. Imagine the challenge of forging balance between the power of the drums and the rather weak volume of the bass - yet still retaining the sonic qualities of both instruments.

The musicians on this session are Vince Lahorra on saxophone and also the music arranger, Dave Harder on acoustic upright bass, Mel Santos on acoustic piano and Lawrence Nolan on drums. Enjoy the jazz music and the videos. The Vince Lahorra Quartet plays their jazz set regularly at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati.

Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Philippines - Philippine Hotels, Travel, Beach, Vacation and Maps Info

from our Pilipinas PH blog

Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Philippines - Philippine Hotels, Travel, Beach, Vacation and Maps Info

The Chocolate Hills are probably Bohol’s most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women’s breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child’s drawing. Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. However, this idea is quickly abandoned, as the effort would surely surpass the construction of the pyramids in Egypt. The chocolate hills consist of are no less than 1268 hills (some claim this to be the exact number). They are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high.

Worst Web Hosting Company Award Goes To...

Gosh, I forgot I had a Blogger.com blog that was without a post - orphaned from the get go huh? So sorry, sorry, truly sorry Mr. Blogger. Now, it's 2011 and I honor thou with a new post - an outburst of a rant - but nevertheless - an original - not spun - not rewritten - post.

It's all about... the WORST web hosting company in the world, BAR NONE!

MochaHost is the WORST web hosting company in the history of the world, bar none! They are totally clueless, rude and insensitive to their web hosting clients? Why am I crying out loud like this? Scenario:

I have a simple web hosting account with them, if I recall correctly I paid about $200 for a 3-year Linux shared hosting plan that was cheap and full featured with all the bells and whistles. yeah, so I was happy. I was shutting down a SINGLEHOP managed server coz that company started to become money-centered and money-focused since they started getting popular. Why, I had two servers with SINGLEHOP. But I digress.

So I successfully transferred and migrated web sites (4 of them, all database driven) from Singlehop to MochaHost. And I was happy... until...

One day I got an e-mail from MochaHost saying they have suspended my account coz one of my site's scripts is eating huge CPU. Without a warning they shut down my sites. I had to access to my files, I could not even backup, no FTP, no cPanel. Just like that. How rude and classless and totally insensitive huh? Oh yeah, they told me that I can upgrade to their VPS and there would be no CPU limits.

My worst nightmare - a newly migrated site has been suspended!

So I felt I was trapped, just to access my files again I need to upgrade. And so I did, ponied up even more money for a VPS Linux hosting account with MochaHost - and I thought my nightmare would be over quickly - that my websites will be transferred seamlessly as promised and that my websites will be back up in no time with me not having to do much.
