Drum Recording Demo - Japs Reyes - Session Drummer - Listen with Headpho...

First of all, highly recommended to listen with headphones/earphones.

This drum recording demo video was filmed during sessions for a Latin jazz project. Session drummer Japs Reyes playing around the kit with grooves and fills.

Footage was flipped to reflect the panning of the drums (drummer perspective for all air drummers out there). The drumkit's tuning is tight and punchy, the toms a bit high (so as to give room to congas, bongos and other percs in the project). Towards the end, the camera leaves  the drummer to show a tour of the room and room microphones used in recording the drums.

The snare drum on this clip is a Taken vented snare.

Recorded and mixed by Gerry Diwa. For this mix, all mics are in - no muting of toms toms. There might be another video that will go through the details of the recording, such as mics and mic placement, preamps, as well as plugins used on the mix.

Audio was recorded as 24bit 48kHz. For the video was dithered down to 16bits. Encoding on the video used Linear PCM.
